Top 10 Power Rangers Lightning Collection Rangers I Want (September 2021 Edition)
I love collecting action figures much to the chagrin of my wallet. NECA and Hasbro pretty much own my bank account right now but the figures make me happy so I can't complain. I've been collecting Power Rangers Lightning Collection since 2019 when I bought the MMPR White Ranger. I was originally only going to collect the MMPR team like I did with the Legacy line but that evolved into me collecting every figure Hasbro puts out because I hate having money.
I've decided to put together a list of top ten Power Rangers I want in the Lightning Collection. Probably do a list of villains too but this is strictly Power Rangers. I'm big on finishing teams we've already started so I won't be including any rangers from teams Hasbro hasn't started.
Honorable Mention: MMPR Armored Red
I own every figure in the Lightning Collection except the SDCC MMPR Armored Red and Zeo Gold set. At the time, I wasn't fully committed to the Lightning Collection. Once I finally came around and decided to go all-in on the figures it was too late for this 2-pack. I don't really want to pay the scalper prices for the 2-pack so I hope they re-release MMPR Armored Red by itself at some point. It would also be a good time to replace the helmet with the corrected helmet they are using for the Metallic MMPR Red figure.
10. S.P.D. Kat Ranger
Hasbro has done a pretty good job releasing S.P.D. figures because someone working there loves that series. It's crazy to me that we got the A Squad figures before something like Turbo. There's four S.P.D. Rangers left they could do from the actual series. You got the Yellow Ranger, Kat Ranger, Nova Ranger, and Boom as the Orange Ranger. I guess they could also slap a S.P.D. logo on their Red Time Force Ranger and put that on shelves. Actually if they do that, they should put him in a 2-Pack with Mirloc. So why did I choose Kat Ranger? Well, I never liked Nova Ranger since she appears for about a minute. I did like Boom but that is a dream sequence Orange Ranger. Now Kat Ranger also only appears in one episode but I really think it's built up well in that episode when Kat Manx transforms. It's a unique suit design and I want the figure because Kat Manx has cat ears and it would be a fun head to have. I'm sure Z, S.P.D. Yellow, will get released in the next few waves so I wanted to give some love to the Kat Ranger.
9. Dino Charge Blue Ranger
We have four Dino Charge figures in the Lighting Collection so far and somehow one of them is not Koda, the Dino Charge Blue Ranger. I'd argue he was the most popular of the bunch. He was my favorite. I enjoy a goofy caveman character. Remember the Geico Cavemen because I do. Koda even got to be in the 25th Power Rangers Anniversary Super Ninja Steel episode "Dimensions in Danger" which didn't include any other Dino Charge Rangers. Let's get him in the Lightning Collection in 2022.
8. Dino Thunder Yellow Ranger
Dino Thunder is a top five Power Rangers series for me and Kira is a top five yellow ranger for me. It probably helped that I had a bit of a crush on Emma Lahana. We have three of the five Dino Thunder Rangers so far and I really want the last two to complete one of my favorite teams. We'd also be one step closer to the Retro Rangers team from Operation Overdrive.
7 Time Force Green Ranger
It might be a shock that I didn't include the Quantum Ranger on this list. He was one of the final cuts but I wanted more core rangers from this team since Time Force is the only series they have only released one ranger for so far. There's a few reasons I want Trip, the Time Force Green Ranger. The first reason is that I like green rangers and we don't have enough of them in Lightning Collection yet. The second reason would be that Trip would be a unique civilian head since he has the green hair. Finally, I want him to come with Circuit. Hasbro better give me that little owl robot or I will complain on the Internet.
6. Dino Charge Purple Ranger
This is my second Dino Charge pick on the list and you might remember me saying that Koda was my favorite from that series. That's still true but Dino Charge has a ton of rangers and I really want a Dino Charge Purple Ranger. Purple is a rare Power Rangers color so I love when it's used. There are two different Dino Charge Purple Rangers. I'd like to have both the male and female version if possible but I'd obviously choose Kendall over Albert if I could only have one. I'd take a 2-Pack. I also might have a small crush on Claire Blackwelder who played Kendall. I didn't put anyone else from Dino Charge but a lot of them were cut in the final hour because the show has so many fun colors.
5. Beast Morphers Yellow Ranger
I ranked this one so high because this figure should have been released already. We haven't had a Beast Morphers release since Wave 4 and that's a real shame. All the male characters got to come out so it's not fair that we haven't got Beast Morphers Yellow yet. She should have come out in Wave 7 instead of the MMPR White re-release that nobody wanted. I know Beast Morphers Blue was a real peg warmer but that's what happens when you put three in a case and release it around the same time you have the basic figures. Oh well, give us Zoey in 2022.
4. Mighty Morphin Metallic White Ranger
I know I just complained about the MMPR White re-release but this doesn't count because it's a different figure. I'm also very aware that some people are sick of MMPR and Tommy but I'm not. There's always more room in my house for MMPR figures. Now of all the figures I've listed so far, this one is probably the one with the highest chance of coming out since they have announced all the Metallic MMPR team except Tommy so far. You have to wonder why they just didn't announce them all at the same time. The biggest thing that would interest me about this figure is the Tommy head. I've liked all his heads so far except the Zeo Red one which I don't feel looks enough like him. It actually looks more like his brother. I'd like a better looking head with his hair down. The Drakkon heads look good so I think we can do long haired Tommy better.
3. Lost Galaxy Pink Ranger
This is one of those curiosity picks because I'm curious as to what they would do when they release this figure. You know they won't put both the Kendrix and Karone heads in one package so you're probably going to have to buy this figure twice. Now they should release the Kendrix version first because she was the first Lost Galaxy Pink Ranger but I wouldn't put it past them to release Karone instead since she's probably the more popular of the two. Maybe release Kendrix with Psycho Pink's monster form which would be pretty cool. You could probably put two heads in a 2-pack though as seen with the MMPR and Zeo Pink 2-Pack which has three heads. Hopefully we'll find out in 2022.
2. Time Force Pink Ranger
Jen is my favorite female Power Ranger regardless of color. She's just a straight up awesome character that needs to be in Lightning Collection already. I wonder what they would do for her head since she had a few different looks. My favorite look is actually from her Power Rangers Wild Force appearance. I kinda hope release the unmorphed version of her from that episode at some point, but I'd stick to the more traditional Time Force bangs look for her first figure.
1. Dino Thunder Black Ranger
Yep, I put Tommy in the top spot. I couldn't help myself. This pick isn't just because of Tommy though. The Dino Thunder Black Ranger suit is one of my favorite suit designs. I even bought the Legacy figure when I only collected MMPR. Plus we'd get a short haired Tommy head which can be used on all his ranger forms. Like the MMPR Metallic White, I think we'll be getting this figure sooner rather than later.
That's my list. Remember I tried to keep to seasons Hasbro has already started. I'd love a Super Megaforce Red just as much as anyone but let's give it some time. I also left rumored and leaked figures off the list like In Space Silver and the Pink and White Ninjetti figures we saw pictures of but haven't been officially announced.
